How to start and end a bracelet clean and secure
I mentioned the other day that I will write a post on how to start and finish up a bracelet project clean without having to tie messy knots, particularly for projects that use two strands on stringing materials, such as the Nymo thread.
Here’s the instruction.
************************************************************
TO START
1. String one end of the nymo thread through the hole of a crimp bead. Place the crimp bead at the center of the thread if two equal length of threads are what you need.
2. Pass thread through the crimp bead again from the same direction and same inlet (see diagram).
3. Flatten the crimp bead with a flat nose plier.
4. Now string both ends of the nymo thread through the hole in a clam shell, so that the flattened crimp bead rests inside the shell.
5. Using pliers, close the shell over the crimp beads. You know have two threads to start creating your double-string article.
TO FINISH
6. After stringing in your final beads, string both ends of the nymo thread through the hole of a clam shell. This time in the opposite direction to Step 4.
7. Next, string both ends of the nymo thread through a crimp bead. Make sure the crimp beads sits inside the shell. Flatten the crimp bead.
8. Now tie two knots with the thread, and then close the shell using plier.
9. Carefully trim off excess threads that are hanging outside the shell.
10. You can now insert lobster clasp or extender chain onto the clam shell hook as necessary.
Tips: To trim off excess thread as much as possible, try using a nail clipper instead of scissors.
************************************************************
Hope the steps outlined above helps you with your beading projects.
